Stupples moves in front in China

10/25/2008 - Haikou, China (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Karen Stupples fired her second consecutive round of five-under 67 on Saturday to move into the lead after the second round of the Grand China Air LPGA.

Stupples, the 2004 Women's British Open champion, finished 36 holes at 10- under 134 and is two clear at Haikou West Golf Club.

Overnight leader Laura Diaz bogeyed four of her last five holes for a one-over 73. She fell into second place at eight-under 136, which is one shot better than Louise Friberg, who posted a three-under 69 on Saturday.

Shi Hyun Ahn (68), Christina Kim (68) and Candie Kung (69) share fourth place at minus-six.

There were two weather stoppages on Saturday and neither ran longer than an hour. Heavy rain came in quickly and left almost as quickly. The entire field completed play and is looking up at an English woman with a major championship to her credit.

Stupples flew out of the gate with birdies at two, three and four. After an early Diaz bogey, Stupples already found herself tied atop the leaderboard.

Diaz got back on track with a birdie at six, but Stupples stayed with Diaz thanks to a birdie at the par-five seventh.

Around the turn, Diaz moved ahead. She birdied three in a row from the ninth, but Stupples remained within striking distance. Stupples bogeyed nine, but rattled off three birdies in a four-hole span from No. 10.

The second weather suspension occurred and scores soared.

Diaz bogeyed three straight holes from the 14th, but Stupples wasn't much better. She bogeyed 15 and 17 and with one hole to go, Stupples and Diaz were knotted in first at nine-under par.

Stupples, playing in the group ahead of Diaz, birdied the par-four closing hole. In the final threesome, Diaz made bogey and suddenly Stupples was two ahead with one round to play.

Both Stupples and Diaz are in similar spots in their careers. Both have been Solheim Cup performers and multiple winners on the LPGA Tour, but neither has seen the winner's circle in some time.

The only wins for Diaz on tour came in 2002 and Stupples is winless since the 2004 campaign. In that year, Stupples captured the Women's British Open by five shots at Sunningdale.

LPGA Championship winner Yani Tseng (67), Juli Inkster (68), Na Yeon Choi (68), Helen Alfredsson (69), Allison Fouch (69), Young Kim (69), Ji Young Oh (71) and two-time winner this year Seon Hwa Lee (73) are knotted in seventh place at minus-five.

Annika Sorenstam managed a two-under 70 and moved into a tie for 19th place at minus-two.

Chiefs' Treen Green out for Sunday's game

How long Trent Green will remain sidelined is unknown. Coach Herm Edwards said Monday he will miss a second straight start Sunday when the Chiefs host the San Francisco 49ers.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Green was going into a feet-first hook slide when he was knocked unconscious by a thunderous, head-snapping hit from Cincinnati's Robert Geathers.

Oddsmakers at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com currently have the Chiefs listed as 7-point favorites versus the 49ers.

Alex Smith completed 27-of-46 passes for 293 yards with a touchdown. Michael Robinson rushed for 29 yards and a pair of touchdowns on five carries.

American Idol odds : Blake Lewis the Early Standout

An important American Idol betting lines recap from February 20 Guys episode. The 12 men came out flat overall with Blake Lewis appearing to have the early edge after the first hour and a half.

Rudy - was quite good singing "Free Ride" to start off.  Randy was not impressed though.  Paula thought he started off fantastic.  "Never had anyone stop off so lively" said Paula but Simon (who does not like Rudy) does not feel he has a distinct voice and was not impressed either.

Brandon was a little pitchy according to Randy and Paula agreed.  Simon said he was a good singer but the song was "too safe" and he needs to make an impact.  He was listed at +1200 odds or $1200 paid out on a $100 bet should he win the competition.

Big favorite Sundance came in with a flat version of "Knights in White Satin" and the judges let him have it, including Paula.  Randy claimed the song was out of pitch throughout.

Korean American - and a Jenny Woo favorite - Paul Kim was up next.  Another pitchy flat one but Randy said he still liked his potential.  Kim at +3000 odds was said to have sung a "third rate version of that (George Michael) song" according to Simon Cowell.  He sang "Careless Whisper".

22 year old Chris Richardson was up next.  He was listed with +1100 odds coming in.  He got the best response from the judges though Simon did not believe the vocal was that great.

Nick was boring and pitchy.  Simon didn't think he was that bad though and predicted he would be back next week.  Nick Pedro was a big +3000 dog coming into this competition.

Beat boxer Blake Lewis was listed with early +1000 odds or $1000 payout on a $100 bet if he were to become the next American Idol winner odds .  These of course were the early odds.  He was considered original for picking an "odd song".  He did not beat box and the judges felt it was the best vocal of the night.

Sanjaya came in as the second biggest favorite after Chris Sligh but his performance Tuesday night was not very good.

Chris Sleigh was the early favorite at +450 odds.  Great voice and a great sense of humor.  He's a real standout.  Randy felt it was on point but maybe ahead of the chorus a little bit.  Simon Cowell said he felt like he was in some "sort of weird student gig".

Jared Cotter followed.  He was listed with +2000 odds early on to win the competition.  The judges felt he needs to take more risks but looked good.

22-year old AJ Talbado, who has tried out for American Idol five times, was up next.  "Kind of a theme park performance" said Simon.  Though the judges felt he performed okay.  Simon did feel AJ might be better than he originally thought.

Phil - this season's military favorite - came into this competition with +1200 odds to win the competition.  He was the last to perform.  He was certainly strong enough to get through this stage of the competition and perhaps the best one after a shaky start.

Tomorrow night, the ladies perform and I sure hope they do a better job than the boys.  Check out all the American Idol betting odds here.
