11/16/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The powerful San Jose Sharks will aim for their ninth victory in 11 games when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks for this evening's matchup at the United Center.
The Sharks lead the NHL with 29 points and ended a two-game losing streak with Thursday's blowout victory over visiting Calgary.
Joe Pavelski registered two goals and an assist, as the San Jose blasted the Flames, 6-1, at HP Pavilion.
Milan Michalek added two goals, while Rob Blake and Dan Boyle each collected three assists for San Jose.
Brian Boucher made 23 saves in his fourth consecutive start in place of Evgeni Nabokov, who remains sidelined with a lower body injury.
Nabokov and winger Jonathan Cheechoo have missed each of the last four games. Nabokov will be out again, while Cheechoo is questionable for tonight's test.
San Jose has done most of its damage at home this year with a 10-0-1 record at the Shark Tank. The club is 4-3-0 as the visiting team and is playing the first of two straight on the road tonight. The Sharks will also visit Nashville on Monday.
The Sharks have dominated the series against Chicago in recent years, winning 11 straight over the Blackhawks. San Jose has also been victorious in its last five trips to the Windy City and has won six of seven and seven of nine at the United Center.
The Blackhawks, meanwhile, have dropped two straight, but were able to secure a point in both of those losses.
After losing a shootout to Boston on Tuesday, the Blackhawks, who will complete a five-game homestand tonight, dropped Thursday's overtime decision against St. Louis. Andy McDonald's second goal of the game 2:15 into overtime lifted the Blues to the 4-3 win at the United Center.
Skating on the power play after Dave Bolland was called for hooking, Lee Stempniak fired a pass from the high slot over to the right circle, where McDonald one-timed it between the pads of Nikolai Khabibulin for the win.
Bolland scored twice and added an assist while Dustin Byfuglien also lit the lamp for the Blackhawks. Khabibulin made 26 saves in the loss.
Chicago defenseman Brian Campbell will face the Sharks for the first time since signing with the Blackhawks over the summer. Campbell was dealt from Buffalo to San Jose at last year's trade deadline and the Sharks were unable to lure him back to Silicon Valley.
Despite the loss, Chicago remains unbeaten at home in regulation this season, going 6-0-4. After this evening's test, the Blackhawks will begin a six-game road trip, which begins Tuesday in Phoenix.
