The Teessiders have confirmed that 20-year-old Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic will train with the club later this month.
Matic currently plays for Slovakian side MFK Kosice and will be joined at the club's Rockliffe Park training ground by his team-mate Juraj Hovancik.
Hovancik is an 18-year-old Slovakian defensive midfielder.
"No deal has been agreed for the potential transfer of either player," read a club statement.
The arrival comes hard on the heels of Boro boss Gareth Southgate agreeing a deal with Kosice to sign Peter Gal-Andrezly on loan in January.
The 17-year-old youth international impressed Southgate during a similar trial period with the Premier League club.
