11/14/2008 - Chicago, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Andy McDonald's second goal of the game 2:15 into overtime lifted the St. Louis Blues to a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center.
Skating on the power play after Dave Bolland was called for hooking, Lee Stempniak fired a pass from the high slot over to the right circle, where McDonald one-timed it between the pads of Nikolai Khabibulin for the win.
"Our power play has been pretty strong all season," said McDonald. "Stempniak challenged their defense and was able to get a pass to me and I was lucky to be able to score the goal."
David Perron and Cam Paddock each scored a goal while Manny Legace made 32 saves for the Blues, who snapped a six-game losing streak. Stempniak finished the game with three assists.
Bolland scored twice and added an assist while Dustin Byfuglien also lit the lamp for the Blackhawks, who have dropped their last two games. Khabibulin made 26 saves in the loss.
Despite the loss, Chicago remains unbeaten at home in regulation this season, going 6-0-4.
St. Louis got on the board with a shorthanded goal just 3:49 into the game as McDonald's wrister from the right side on a 2-on-1 break beat Khabibulin.
At the 6:19 mark of the frame, Perron gave the Blues a 2-0 lead on his snap shot, but Byfuglien's tip-in off of an Andrew Ladd shot just 50 seconds later made it a one-goal game.
The Blues, though, took a 3-1 lead into the first intermission on Paddock's first NHL goal, a wrister down low off a rebound with 9:36 left in the frame.
"It's a dream come true," said Paddock, who scored on his first shot in his first NHL game. "I was just happy to contribute. They Hawks pushed back and we worked hard. It's always nice to be able to get a goal when the team wins."
Chicago got the only goal of the second period thanks to Bolland's first marker of the campaign on a wrist shot 6:05 into the frame that made it a 3-2 game.
The Blackhawks tied the contest 2:41 into the third. Ladd held the puck behind the left side of the net and sent it the opposite way to Bolland, who one- timed the puck from the low right circle past Legace.
