Lyon's Benzema, Juninho out against Valenciennes

11/28/2008 - Lyon, France (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Lyon clinched a berth in the knockout stage of the Champions League on Tuesday, but returns to Ligue 1 action without striker Karim Benzema and captain Juninho on Saturday.

Benzema has aggravated a thigh strain in a 2-1 win over Fiorentina, and Juninho will serve the first of a three-game ban against Valenciennes this weekend.

Long term, Lyon will be without the two for its next three matches, including its final Champions League group stage game in two weeks against Bayern Munich - which will determine first place. Cris is also suspended for the game against the German champions.

Although Lyon was relieved to secure advancement in the Champions League, coach Claude Puel thought it was important to refocus on the league.

With such a short turnaround, Puel knows struggling Valenciennes will have even more hope of pulling off an upset. Lyon has struggled to bounce back from games during the week earlier this season.

"As far as I'm concerned, great teams can turn themselves around in a short space of time, three or four days after a Champions League game," Puel said.

"If everyone in the squad can be counted on, we can become very strong in the long run.

Without Benzema (13 goals in all competitions) and Juninho (four goals, seven assists), Lyon needs a strong showing from Fred, who also has four goals this season.

Valenciennes has just 10 goals in 15 games, led by Gregory Pujol's three, but Puel is still cautious about any club in the relegation zone.

"They can pose us a lot of problems as they never let go and they want to get out of the situation that they are in," Puel said. "They have drawn a lot of games or have lost by one goal, they are never hammered.

"In any case, I don't think we are going to have any easy matches this season."

Also Saturday, Lille hosts Lorient, Le Mans hosts Caen, Le Havre hosts Nantes, Nice hosts Grenoble, Auxerre hosts Monaco and Sochaux hosts Bordeaux.

On Sunday, Toulouse hosts Marseille, Nancy hosts St. Etienne and Rennes hosts PSG.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.

(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977.  Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.

Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer.  In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.

MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season.  Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite.  After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.

Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions.  They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals.  The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.
