12/28/2006 - Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The 2007 ATP and WTA Tour seasons will commence next week, with three men's tournaments and a pair of women's events that will serve as preparations for the Australian Open.

The men will swing into action in Australia (Adelaide), Qatar (Doha) and India (Chennai), while the ladies will take to the courts in Australia (Gold Coast) and New Zealand (Auckland).

The ATP will present a 32-player hybrid round-robin format in Adelaide, as a traditional draw will not be in place for that season-opening tournament. Round-robin play will determine the week's eight quarterfinalists there, as action at the eight-day event will get underway on Sunday. All of next week's other tournaments will open play on Monday (New Year's Day).

The 2007 Australian Open will begin on January 15 in Melbourne, where world No. 1 Roger Federer and former top-ranked star Amelie Mauresmo will look to defend their titles. Federer won three of the four Grand Slam events in 2006, while Mauresmo captured half of the women's majors last season. Federer appeared in all four Grand Slam finals in '06, with his only loss coming against Rafael Nadal at the French Open.
